My first role at Vail, building and fixing the company’s in-house applications.
- Features, every week. React, TypeScript, Node.js and Express, in teams with other departments, using object-oriented design.
- Backend. REST APIs, Prisma and other ORM data access, SQL, and database connection pooling.
- Debugging across layers. Followed defects through the UI, API, database, container runtime and deployment, which is where my reliability work started.
- Releases. Improved application configuration and container-based release workflows, and worked with experienced engineers on code quality and maintainability.
